Dominique was born in the western part of France in a small village called La Maucarriere, which means "village built on clay." In this early environment, many sculptors of metal and wood surrounded him. Curiosity prompted him to travel for many years and his travels finally brought him to the United States.
While taking art classes at Santa Monica College, Dominique's passion for ceramic was ignited by his teacher Franklin Phillips. Dominique realized his destiny then was to be working with clay. He immersed himself in his studies learning the technicality of the ceramic process and freed the artist within.
Dominique was particularly fascinated with Mardi Gras carnival masks and imbues his ceramic masks with a luminous spiritual energy. His themes "Archetypal of Transformation", " Dreams", "Reflection", Enlightenment", "Inner Peace", "Unity" and "Spiritual Warriors" are magically captured within his powerful sculptures.
